Rolled Alloys High School Co-Op (Temperance, MI)

Under the mentorship of plant operations personnel, the High School Co-op student will be exposed to various operations processes.  The student will be exposed to lasers, waterjets, saws, shears, plasmas, shipping/receiving, and other functions.  During their senior year, students will attend their required classes and work part-time at the local Rolled Alloys facility.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Operating Trumpf 5040 and Trumpf 8000 kw laser or Bystronic  kw laser to produce parts for aircraft industry
  • Operation of overhead crane and forklifts
  • Using micrometers and other measuring equipment
  • Maintaining traceability of parts
  • Some programming at machine to change lead-ins and lead-outs, or minor changes in nesting

 

Additional Job Functions:

  • Maintaining equipment preventative maintenance program
  • Inventory control and scrap utilization
  • Maintain a clean working environment using 5s guidelines
  • Minor deburring when necessary

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong verbal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team player but capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Capable of working at a fast pace without overlooking detail
  • Skilled in laser operation, preferably a Trumpf or Bystronic
  • Safety-minded individual
  • Ability to use/read micrometers and calipers
  • Ability to bend and climb and lift up to 70 pounds repeatedly
  • Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16”
  • Ability to make simple decimal – fraction conversions.
  • Computer literate
  • CAD / CNC experience a plus

Duties will include various responsibilities such as:

- Developing and entering quotes and orders in the sales system in response to customer inquiries 
- Maintaining existing accounts in the respective sales territory, while also developing new business
- Processing paperwork associated with the sales process
- Handling diverse questions about the company’s products and services based on specific customer needs

Cutting Operator (Windsor, CT) - (2nd & 3rd Shifts)

Is responsible for producing cut-to-size pieces for customers’ orders through use of company-owned sawing equipment. This function includes staging of inventory and restocking of remnants generated in the cutting process.

Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Proficiency in operating all company owned sawing equipment
    - Documentation of inventory movement through the use of company computer system
    - Documentation of inventory movement on hard copy work orders
    - Ongoing preventative maintenance of sawing equipment
    - Inventory control of saw related supplies i.e. blades, coolant, hydraulic fluids, etc.
    - Regular participation in facilities maintenance with view toward safety and good housekeeping practices
    - Safe and proficient use of all warehouse equipment
    - Assisting Packaging when determined to be necessary by Production Manager and/or Warehouse Lead Person
    - Use of PMI scanner to verify correct material
    - Responsible for driving a forklift and operating and overhead crane

    - Ability to bend and climb and lift up to 70 pounds repeatedly
    - Ability to read a tape measure to 1/16”
    - Ability to make simple decimal – fraction conversions
    - Basic computer skills
    - Ability to use/read micrometers and calipers
    - CAD / CNC Experience a plus
